Septic System Replacement – Raised Filter Bed
Frankford, ON - January 2026
We were brought in to correct a septic system that was not installed according to the approved permit.
The property was originally approved for a raised filter bed system, but an infiltrator system was installed instead. With heavy clay soil and a high water table, that type of system was not suitable for the site.
The system was only about 10 years old and had already failed.
Our scope was to remove the non-compliant system and install the raised filter bed that should have been constructed from the beginning.
We worked directly with the Township and Lower Trent Conservation Authority to ensure the new system was built according to the approved design and met Ontario Building Code requirements.
Work included:
- Removal of the failed septic system
- Full excavation and site preparation
- Installation of engineered sand and imported fill
- Construction of raised filter bed per approved permit
- Installation of new pump chamber and effluent pump
- Coordination of inspections and approvals
The new raised filter bed system was installed to specification and passed inspection.
Because the installation was completed in January 2026, final grading and site clean-up will be completed in Spring 2026 once ground conditions allow for proper finishing.
